The year we've all been waiting for has finally arrived, and our first show of 2012 is a doozy. One of our favorite new bands PSYCHIC TWIN (Urbana, IL) will bring their breathtaking electronic pop to the Cats Purring Dude Ranch on Saturday 1/21/2012. Our other favorite new band of psych-pop hitmakers ILLLS (Oxford, MS) are also on the bill, and Cats Purring DJs will be spinning apocalyptic party tunes all night. Show starts at 10pm, and we're charging $5 at the door. BYOB, but please no drinking & driving. Book a taxi, and don't sleep on these jams:

We're ringing in 2012 with our most epic New Year's Eve party yet at PROUD LARRY'S 12/31/11. The apocalypse is near, and we'll have performances from DENT MAY, FLIGHT, ILLLS, and CHILD STAR to celebrate. That's a lot of music, so show up on time to catch all four bands. Doors at 8pm. WILL GOSS SCREENS "LAND" @ CATS PURRING DUDE RANCH TONIGHT

Clarksdale, MS underground filmmaker WILL GOSS (creator of the cult classic MAGENTA'S CARESS series) screens his latest epic LAND at the Cats Purring Dude Ranch tonight. LAND is "the story of a farmer who sells his soul to the devil for power over the weather," resulting in "a cosmic battle of elemental human desire." The screening starts at 7pm sharp, and the filmmaker will be on hand to answer your questions, hang out, etc. Here's the trailer:

PRINCE RAMA + GRAY THINGS @ CATS PURRING DUDE RANCH 11/22

Cats Purring favorites PRINCE RAMA return to Oxford, MS for the 3rd time this Tuesday 11/22 at the DUDE RANCH! Raised in Hare Krishna communities of Texas and Florida but based in Brooklyn, NY, sisters Taraka and Nimai Larson have made quite a reputation with their unpredictable live shows that blur the line between performance art, psychedelic ritual, and pop spectacle. They have a great new record TRUST NOW out via our friends at PAW TRACKS (Animal Collective, Ariel Pink, Dent May, Black Dice, etc).

GRAY THINGS will open, making their debut as a live band. We realize it's Thanksgiving break at the university, so y'all fellow townies come support some of our favorite artists in the universe. BYOB, $5. Doors 9pm, bands 10pm.

Alexandria Hall) will perform shimmering psychedelic synth-pop workouts from her new album "FLASH & YEARN," and MICHAEL COLLINS (ex-Prince Rama) will conjure other-dimensional sacred dance floors with his new solo material.
