JACUZZI BOYS + DEAD GAZE @ RED STAR 6/22

Good news, y'all: Miami, FL's fuzzy garage poppers JACUZZI BOYS return to Oxford on Tuesday 6/22. Those who experienced them with Woven Bones at the Cats Purring Cookout last year know these dudes rip. Listen to "Bricks or Coconuts," their delightful new single on MEXICAN SUMMER (Haunted Graffiti, Best Coast, Kurt Vile) HERE, then watch their creepy psyched out video for "Smells Dead" HERE.

They'll be supported by Jackson, MS's beloved lo-fi psych groop DEAD GAZE, the latest project from the prolific R. Cole Furlow, who have a cassette on MIRROR UNIVERSE (Toro Y Moi, Washed Out) under their belt and a split tape with Oxford's GRAY THINGS via CLAN DESTINE (Pink Playground, Pussy Patrol) on the horizon. San Francisco's BARE WIRES describe their 70s glam inspired sound as "slop pop." The band's leader Matthew Melton was born & raised in Memphis, TN, and their excellent 2009 LP ARTIFICIAL CLOUDS was mastered by the late great JAY REATARD. Check the video for the album's title track HERE.

CCR HEADCLEANER also live in San Francisco, but they started as Athen's, GA noisy psych-rock band LONG LEGGED WOMAN. These guys also run the label POLLEN SEASON (Sic Alps, Dadfag, The Hospitals, etc). HERE's an interview with them from SF Weekly.

You're probably already familiar with Oxford's UNWED TEENAGE MOTHERS now, but they're basically a supergroop featuring members of Lover!, Bass Drum of Death, Black & Whites, The Sleepwalkers, etc. Don't sleep on their latest 7" single from Tic Tac Totally (Bare Wires, Lost Sounds, Wavves, etc) available HERE.

Hey, friends. Summer's pretty much here and we're celebrating with a special country-western shindig this Thursday (5/6/10) @ The Lyric's Red Star Bar.

Early in the evening AIRSHIPS will be spinning classic records from the golden age of country.

Then at 10:30, DENT MAY will perform a rare country set, featuring original material from COWBOY MALONEY'S ELECTRIC CITY (forthcoming multimedia collaboration w/ Michael Bible & others) + standards, etc.
