JULIAN LYNCH + DENT MAY @ RED STAR 7/1

Dear Oxonians, two good dudes will be performing tunes at Red Star tomorrow night. New Jersey native JULIAN LYNCH splits his time between working at a Ph.D in ethnomusicology and building a prolific collection of homemade experimental pop recordings. He uses diverse instrumentation to create warm and inviting sounds fit for soundtracking front porch hang sessions with friends or cannonballs into the neighborhood pool. His gorgeous new album MARE is out now on the excellent label OLDE ENGLISH SPELLING BEE (Ducktails, James Ferraro, Rangers). Opening the show will be local breezy listening Paw Tracks popster DENT MAY, testing out the waters for some new electronic sounds and reimagining some of his ukulele-era favorites. Check out a summery smooth mix he put together HERE, dedicated to Pickwick Lake and posted by the promising new Brooklyn-based INTERNATIONAL TAPES.

MAGENTA'S CARESS 3 SCREENING 6/23 @ THE LYRIC

Mysterious Clarksdale, MS underground filmmaker WILL GOSS will present the highly anticipated third installment of his DIY classic MAGENTA'S CARESS series at 7PM this Wednesday 6/23 at The Lyric. Some of the first MC was filmed in the infamous jacuzzi at the now defunct Cats Purring Idea Trailer, so you know it's legit. GOSS writes, directs, and stars in MAGENTA'S CARESS, many clips of which can be found HERE.

JACUZZI BOYS + DEAD GAZE @ RED STAR 6/22

Good news, y'all: Miami, FL's fuzzy garage poppers JACUZZI BOYS return to Oxford on Tuesday 6/22. Those who experienced them with Woven Bones at the Cats Purring Cookout last year know these dudes rip. Listen to "Bricks or Coconuts," their delightful new single on MEXICAN SUMMER (Haunted Graffiti, Best Coast, Kurt Vile) HERE, then watch their creepy psyched out video for "Smells Dead" HERE.

They'll be supported by Jackson, MS's beloved lo-fi psych groop DEAD GAZE, the latest project from the prolific R.
